Bautista Agut, Schwartzman also advance to main draw

#NextGenATP teen Coleman Wong booked his ticket to the Miami Open presented by Itau main draw Tuesday after he defeated Sumit Nagal 3-6, 6-1, 7-5 in the final round of qualifying.

The 19-year-old, who hails from Hong Kong and has been training at Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar since September 2021, was a wild card into qualifying and won back-to-back three setters to earn his ATP Masters 1000 debut. Wong struck 16 aces against Nagal and in the deciding set, he fought off three break points to advance.

At a career-high No. 212 in the PIF ATP Rankings, Wong will face Serbian Laslo Djere in the first round. 

Tour veterans Roberto Bautista Agut and Diego Schwartzman also qualified Tuesday. The Spaniard Bautista Agut overcame Finn Otto Virtanen 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 while Schwartzman escaped Arthur Rinderknech 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(1) after two hours, 43 minutes.

Americans Emilio Nava, Aleksandar Kovacevic, Brandon Nakashima were the three home hopes who advanced to the main draw.
