#NextGenATP Tien cracks Top 100, Mover of Week

The first major of the season at the Australian Open threw up storylines across the Tour. Jannik Sinner captured his third Slam title, #NextGenATP stars Learner Tien and Joao Fonseca earned shock wins and Tommy Paul did enough to crack the Top 10 in the PIF ATP Rankings for the first time. No. 80 Learner Tien, +41 (Career High)
The 19-year-old American has broken into the Top 100 for the first time after a memorable run from qualifying to the fourth round in Melbourne. The lefty earned a stunning five-set win against then-World No. 5 Daniil Medvedev in the second round and backed that up by defeating Corentin Moutet before Lorenzo Sonego stopped him in the fourth round. Tien had previously gone 0-3 at majors (US Open 2022, ’23, 24).
No. 9 Tommy Paul, +2 (Career High)
Paul has jumped to a career-high No. 9 in the PIF ATP Rankings, cracking the Top 10 for the first time after he advanced to the quarter-finals at the AO. Paul, a four-time ATP Tour champion, has been a staple inside the Top 20 since January 2023. He now joins American Taylor Fritz in the Top 10. Read more here.
No. 14 Ben Shelton, +6
The American enjoyed a run to his second major semi-final at the Australian Open. Shelton, who reached the same stage at the US Open in 2023, defeated Brandon Nakashima, Pablo Carreno Busta, Lorenzo Musetti, Gael Monfils and Lorenzo Sonego.
No. 35 Lorenzo Sonego, +20
At 29 years old, Sonego reached his first major quarter-final at the AO. The Italian beat former champion Stan Wawrinka in the first round and ended the run of Brazilian Fonseca and American Tien.
No. 99 Joao Fonseca, +13 (Career High)
The 18-year-old Brazilian, who won the 2024 Next Gen ATP Finals presented by PIF, further announced himself to the world at the Australian Open, where he upset Top 10 star Andrey Rublev in straight sets in the first round. Fonseca is the youngest Top 100 player since Carlos Alcaraz in October 2021 and the youngest Brazilian to break into the Top 100 in PIF ATP Rankings history.
