The 20-year-old is fourth in PIF ATP Live Next Gen Race, behind Jodar, Fonseca & Landaluce

Austrian Joel Schwaerzler claimed his second ATP Challenger title of the season and third overall Sunday at the Mazovia Open in Poland. The 20-year-old beat Andrea Guerrieri 7-6(4), 6-1 in the final.

“Very happy about this one,” Schwaerzler wrote in an Instagram post. “It means a lot, especially after some tough weeks behind me, struggling to find my level. Happy to have kept working and fighting through it.”

Schwaerzler arrived in Poland having lost seven of his past eight matches, but the lefty found a high level throughout the week to lift the title and move up five places to fourth in the PIF ATP Live Next Gen Race.

Spaniard Rafael Jodar leads the PIF ATP Live Next Gen Race, with Joao Fonseca, Martin Landaluce and Schwaerzler behind.

In 2024, Schwaerzler joined an exclusive list of players who have won an ATP Challenger Tour title while holding the Junior No. 1 ranking.

Gentzsch, 22, completes dream week at home
German Tom Gentzsch ended his three-match skid in Challenger finals to lift his maiden trophy at that level. The 22-year-old won on home soil at the Platzmann Open, where he ousted Jerome Kym 6-4, 7-6(4) in the title match. Gentzsch was a finalist at the Koblenz, Split and Bunschoten Challengers this year.

Butvilas needs deciding set in all but one match to win Lexington
Edas Butvilas survived a marathon week at the Lexington Open, needing a deciding set in four out of his five matches en route to the title. The 22-year-old outlasted Andre Ilagan 6-2, 1-6, 7-6(6) in the final to secure his third Challenger crown.

Piraino and Poullain win Challenger 50 trophies
Italian Gabriele Piraino and Frenchman Lucas Poullain each claimed titles at Challenger 50 level. Piraino, 22, won the Plovdiv Challenger in Bulgaria, defeating home hope Petr Nesterov 6-1, 7-6(5) to capture his first Challenger title. The 30-year-old Poullain also won his maiden Challenger trophy, triumphing at the ENKA Open in Istanbul, where he beat Ilia Simakin 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 in the final.
