Jodar, Fonseca, Landaluce lead the way, but plenty remain in pursuit

The race to qualify for the Next Gen ATP Finals is heating up as the ATP Tour enters the second half of the 2026 season.

Rafael Jodar continued his breakout season by reaching his first ATP 500 final at the Mubadala DC Open in Washington, extending his lead at the top of the PIF ATP Live Next Gen Race. Joao Fonseca and Martin Landaluce occupy the other two positions in the top three, but the battle for qualification remains wide open with several players eyeing qualification for the 20-and-under event.

Diego Dedura became the youngest ATP Challenger champion of the season after lifting his maiden title at that level in Tampere last month. The 18-year-old German has climbed to fifth in the Race but still trails fourth-placed Federico Cina by two points, after the Italian qualified for the main draw at back-to-back clay-court ATP 250 events in Gstaad and Kitzbühel.

 Player  Points
 1) Rafael Jodar  2,009
 2) Joao Fonseca  1,060
 3) Martin Landaluce  688
 4) Federico Cina  272
 5) Diego Dedura  270
 6) Moise Kouame  257
 7) Nicolai Budkov Kjaer  227
 8) Henry Searle  226

Moise Kouame also remains firmly in the qualification picture in sixth place. The 17-year-old Frenchman enjoyed a standout run to the third round at his home major, Roland Garros, and is currently at No. 212 in the PIF ATP Rankings. He is also the youngest player inside the world's Top 600.

Nicolai Budkov Kjaer, who reached the semi-finals on his Next Gen ATP Finals debut last year, sits seventh in the Race. Just one point behind the Norwegian is Great Britain's Henry Searle, who has powered into contention in the past two months. The 2023 Wimbledon boys' singles champion reinforced his grass-court credentials this season by claiming ATP Challenger titles in Dublin and Nottingham.

Just outside the qualification places, 20-year-olds Joel Schwaerzler and Rei Sakamoto sit ninth and 10th, respectively, but both remain within striking distance of the season-ending event. Schwaerzler, who is coached by his father like Cina, captured his second ATP Challenger title earlier this year in Kigali. Sakamoto earned his first ATP Tour match win in Miami this season and is competing this week at the ATP Challenger in Lexington.
