#NextGenATP Czech Kumstat wins three straight Challenger titles

Jan Kumstat is surging towards a debut appearance at the Next Gen ATP Finals, and he is doing so in emphatic fashion.

The 19-year-old Czech captured his third consecutive clay-court ATP Challenger title on Saturday in Prague, extending his winning streak across all levels to 17 matches. Following his latest triumph on home soil, which came after victories in Liberec and Hamburg, Kumstat has climbed eight places to fifth in the PIF ATP Live Next Gen Race, just eight points behind fourth-placed Joel Schwaerzler.

Standing at 6’5”, Kumstat has used his height to great effect on serve and combined that power with exquisite touch at the net to burst onto the scene over the past month. The Czech won the Australian Open boys’ doubles title in 2025 alongside Maxwell Exsted and reached the singles final in Melbourne a year earlier, when he fell to Rei Sakamoto.

Kumstat is now firmly in the hunt to qualify for the 20-and-under Next Gen ATP Finals, as are plenty of other exciting young talents. Rafael Jodar (2,499 points) leads the Live Race, with Joao Fonseca (1,200) and Martin Landaluce (738) in second and third, respectively. Austrian lefty Schwaerzler won his second ATP Challenger title in Poland earlier this month and has held onto fourth place.

Schwaerzler is competing in US Open qualifying this week, alongside other young stars chasing their debut at the Next Gen ATP Finals, including 17-year-old Moise Kouame and 19-year-old Federico Cina.

Kouame turned heads in March when he became the youngest match winner in Miami history before advancing to the third round of his home major at Roland Garros. The Frenchman is sixth in the Live Race with 272 points after reaching the quarter-finals of an ATP Challenger in Cancun, where he defeated World No. 61 Roman Andres Burruchaga. He is just one point ahead of seventh-placed Cina.

Eighth-placed Diego Dedura, ninth-placed Nicolai Budkov Kjaer, 10th-placed Sakamoto and 11th-placed Henry Searle are also in US Open qualifying action this week.

Maxim Mrva, who sits 12th in the Live Race, won his first ATP Challenger title in Todi two weeks ago before falling to fellow Czech Kumstat in the Prague quarter-finals.
