#NextGenATP Fonseca continues rapid rise, Mover of Week

A busy 12 days in the south-western United States ended with Jack Draper claiming his maiden ATP Masters 1000 crown in Indian Wells, California, while #NextGenATP Joao Fonseca also picked up a trophy at an ATP Challenger Tour 175 event in neighbouring Arizona.
Draper has become a Top 10 player for the first time after his title run, while Fonseca has also hit a new career high. ATPTour.com looks at the movers of the week in the PIF ATP Rankings as of Monday, 17 March.
No. 60 Joao Fonseca, +20 (Career High)
After tasting success on his Indian Wells debut by defeating Jacob Fearnley (before falling to eventual champion Draper in the second round), Fonseca racked up five more wins in the south-western United States to take the title at the Arizona Tennis Classic. The 18-year-old Brazilian dropped just one set to prevail from a stacked draw at the Challenger 175 event in Phoenix: He defeated Jan-Lennard Struff, Kei Nishikori and Alexander Bublik en route to his third Challenger crown, a triumph that has lifted him 20 spots to a career-high World No. 60.
No. 7 Jack Draper, +7 (Career High)
Like Fonseca, Draper also dropped just one set throughout his title run at the BNP Paribas Open. The 23-year-old Briton defeated his fellow seeds Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton, Carlos Alcaraz and Holger Rune to claim the biggest title of his career. Draper’s semi-final triumph against two-time defending champion Alcaraz secured his rise into the Top 10 for the first time, and he is now the new World No. 7 after seeing off Rune in the championship match.
No. 18 Arthur Fils, +3 (Career High)
The 20-year-old Fils pulled through a couple of three-setters (against Lorenzo Musetti and Marcos Giron, respectively) on the way to his maiden Masters 1000 quarter-final in Indian Wells. Although he fell to Daniil Medvedev in a deciding-set tie-break in the last eight, Fils has jumped three spots to a career-high World No. 18. The Frenchman will enter the Miami Open presented by Itau this week with no PIF ATP Rankings points to defend from the 2024 edition.
No. 34 Tallon Griekspoor, +9
Dutchman Griekspoor was another first-time Masters 1000 quarter-finalist in Indian Wells, where he launched his campaign by overcoming Miomir Kecmanovic in three sets and then defeating Alexander Zverev for his first victory against a Top 5 opponent. The 28-year-old also downed Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard and Yosuke Watanuki in the California desert before falling to Rune, and he has climbed nine spots to World No. 34.
No. 64 Kei Nishikori, +12
The former World No. 4 Nishikori continued his post-injury climb up the PIF ATP Rankings by notching four wins across Indian Wells and Phoenix. The Japanese star defeated Juame Munar in his first BNP Paribas Open appearance for four years before falling to Ugo Humbert, and then bounced back quickly to reach the semi-finals in Arizona. Nishikori has risen 12 spots to World No. 64, his highest position since May 2022.
